Jatropha roude is a monoecious shrub, strongly branched and deciduous, more or less succulent, its smooth bark is green, it peels in fine gray film. Like the other Euphorbiaceae, it has a latex, a rosy milky substance characteristic of this family. The stems and young leaves are dark purple in color.
The alternating leaves are petiolated, petiole 8 to 12 cm long, lined with glandular hairs, at the base of the petiole presence of stipules about 5 mm long, divided into many segments provided with a gland at the end. The limbus has an oval contour divided into 3 to 5 oboval to oblanceolate lobes, the longest middle lobe. Lobe with an acute apex, glandular, finely toothed edges.
Inflorescence in cyme opposite the leaves with scattered flowers, with a solitary female flower at the end of each main axis.
Unisexual flowers, regular, dark red; male flowers with lobes of the elliptical lanceolate calyx about 3 mm long, glandular on the edges, petals fused in the lower half, oboval lobes about 4 mm long, disk composed of 5 free glands, stamens 8, in 2 distinct whorls, the 5 on the outside welded over half their length, the 3 on the inside almost completely fused; female flowers with lobes of the calyx and petals twice as large as in male flowers, disk weakly lobed, upper ovary, globulous to lightly lobed, with 6 ribs, 3 styles about 2 mm long, welded to the base.
The fruit is a more or less fleshy to dry, globular capsule about 1 cm in diameter covered with sparse to glabrous hairs, green pulling on the brown, dehiscent into bivalve mericarps, generally containing 3 seeds.

PREPARATION
